Tracy Chevalier - Writer in Residence events
Author Tracy Chevalier, who wrote Girl With a Pearl Earring among several other historical novels, is our Writer in Residence for 2008. Stubbs and Whistlejacket in York events
Studio Saturdays

Join artist Shirley Hudson at these workshops creating sculptures and images of horses using recycled materials.
Our Studio Saturday events are for accompanied children and a small charge is made for materials.

Stubbs Cavalcade
Every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 30 July until 23 August
11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm

Come and help decorate one of 30 large scale horses at these drop-in workshops for families. They will form a cavalcade of horses which will parade through the Museum Gardens at our Whistlejacket Race Day (see event below).
A small charge will be made for materials.
Rocking Horse Afternoon

Anthony Dew of The Rocking Horse Shop, Fangfoss, near York, hosts an afternoon of demonstrations, talks and children's activities in The Studio.
Whistlejacket Race Day - in the Museum Gardens
Saturday 30 August
2pm - 4pm
Come and see our 'cavalcade of horses' in the Museum Gardens, five minutes' walk away from the gallery. All the horses will have been produced during the summer activities (above). Take part in obstacle races or watch, relax and listen to music from the Kirkbymoorside Brass Band.
